Temporary residents with a caregiver work permit, as well as caregivers who are accepted for their caregiver work permit based on a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) application by an employer before November 30, 2014, are eligible to become permanent residents of Canada under the caregiver scheme.
The caregiver programme has the following requirements:
A positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from a Canadian employer is needed.
A formal employment contract outlining job responsibilities, hours of service, pay, living conditions, medical care coverage from the date of arrival before eligibility for provincial health insurance, and termination and dismissal terms.
Foreign studies that are equivalent to a Canadian diploma or degree
A minimum of six months of preparation or one year of full-time caregiver job experience
Check your language skills in English or French.
Before entering Canada, you must obtain a work permit.
